Setronome tutorials: the stage metronome in four videos
These four video tutorials show Setronome, the metronome app for the stage, step by step on the iPad: the home screen, the Set tab, the guide editor and show mode. Every step is shown on screen and explained while it happens.
The videos are in English. Everything you see works the same on the iPhone, with one exception: the guide editor is iPad only, because it is edited bar by bar and that needs room. Finished guide tracks play on the iPhone too.
Watch them in order if you are new: the four videos build on each other, from the first tempo to the whole show.
1 The home screen
The home screen holds everything you reach for first: your current setlist, the tempo ruler, the ear that hears the tempo, subdivision and time signature.
What the video shows
- The setlist on the home screen and the sidebar with your repertoire
- Setting the tempo: swipe the ruler, tap it in, or hold and type the number
- The ear: hold the device to the music and Setronome finds the tempo
- Subdivision and time signature
- The plus button: name a song and add it, or open the full song editor
- Take Tempo: a few bars of click, then silence
- Skip buttons, medleys and breaks in the setlist
2 The Set tab, repertoire and medleys
The Set tab keeps your whole library in order: the repertoire, your setlists, the song directory, medleys and folders.
What the video shows
- The repertoire: sort, filter and search every song you have saved
- Setlists: open, edit, select and tap in a tempo for each song
- The song directory with more than five million songs
- The medley editor: manual or automatic transitions, countdown stop, next show part
- Folders for bands and projects, and a setlist straight from a folder
- Scanning a printed setlist or importing a PDF
3 The guide editor
In the guide editor a song becomes a guide track: bar by bar, with sections, tempo changes and spoken cues, ready to export as a WAV file.
What the video shows
- Building a guide track while you play: every bar is counted
- Marking verse, chorus and every other section in real time
- Adding bars by hand and editing a single bar
- Time signature, subdivision and tempo for any bar
- Tempo ramps and tempo bands
- Saving and exporting as WAV, also split stereo with click and cues on separate channels
4 Show mode
Show mode gets you through a whole performance with as little touching of the iPad as possible.
What the video shows
- The show lobby and rehearsal mode
- How songs change: instantly or at the end of the bar
- Count-ins and Take Tempo for the whole show
- Notes for every song, swiping between songs
- The Loop button, for when the stage does not follow the plan
- Medleys, tempo blocks, automatic show parts and Bluetooth footswitches
